Around 1 in 4 drinkers in the North East are planning to take part in Dry January 2021.

The annual national campaign challenges millions of people across the country to take a month off alcohol and make the year ahead the best it can be.

It comes after all the anxieties and stresses of 2020; a year in which many people have seen their alcohol consumption increase.

Dr Sarah Louden, a Newcastle GP, has some helpful advice for anyone thinking about taking part in Dry January to break the habit of regular drinking and get their ‘you’ back.
